Ophthalmology is a diverse and rapidly advancing field. We remain committed to furthering
excellence in the care of patients with visual disorders through
achievement in clinical care,
teaching and research.
Specialized adult eye care and cutting edge research takes place in the 40,000 square foot
Regional Eye Centre located at the Royal Alexandra Hospital.
Major research themes include genetics and tele-ophthalmology, all of which seek
to improve visual health and to translate research advances
directly into improved clinical practice.
A Team to Prevent Blindness has been established to develop a program of research into the major causes of blindness.
