Specialized adult eye care and cutting edge research takes place in the 40,000 square foot
Regional Eye Centre located at the Royal Alexandra Hospital.
Major research themes include genetics and tele-ophthalmology, all of which seek
to improve visual health and to translate research advances
directly into improved clinical practice.
Male patients with choroideremia (CHM), their unaffected brothers and carrier females are invited to participate in an on-line survey to broaden the understanding of ocular and general health of CHM patients.
A Team to Prevent Blindness has been established to develop a program of research into the major causes of blindness.
On March 20th, 2010, the Department of Ophthalmology will hold a fundraiser at the Chateau Lacombe to enlighten the community of inherited vision loss and the research being done at the University of Alberta.
